Production FAQ
Clear answers regarding our co-development processes, IP management, and technical delivery models.
Who owns the Intellectual Property (IP) and source code?
You do. ApexxPlay operates entirely as a work-for-hire technical partner. Once milestones are paid, all source code, art assets, and related IP are wholly owned by your studio or publishing entity. This is strictly enforced in our Master Service Agreement (MSA).
How do you handle codebase integration and version control?
We adapt to your pipeline. If you use Perforce (P4), Git, or Plastic SCM, our pods will integrate directly into your repository branches. We adhere to your commit standards and code-review processes to ensure our work merges cleanly without introducing regressions.
How does billing and milestone tracking work?
For full-cycle and prototyping engagements, we utilize milestone-based billing tied to concrete, playable deliverables (e.g., Vertical Slice, Alpha, Gold Master). For ongoing co-dev or Live Ops support, we typically use a transparent retainer model based on dedicated team capacity.
Can you scale a pod up or down during production?
Yes. Production demands change. We build flexibility into our MSA to allow scaling of specific disciplines—like adding QA analysts before certification or ramping down environment artists once the world is built—with appropriate notice periods.
Do you guarantee platform certification (TRC/TCR)?
While no external partner can legally guarantee a platform holder's subjective approval, our Porting & Optimization Squad operates secure devkit labs and runs rigorous pre-submission compliance sweeps to mitigate failure risks, drastically reducing the chance of a Lotcheck rejection.
